Knit-a-Square

It's almost 2:45 A.M., but here is a square that I just finished knitting for an awesome project called Knit-a-Square. This organization makes and collects knitted and crocheted squares to create blankets that are then given to some of the millions of AIDS orphans in Africa. Knit-a-Square allows me and many other people to knit and crochet for a cause, and it feels incredible to know that I'm doing something that I enjoy while helping children who really need it.

If you enjoy knitting or crocheting and want to give your time, efforts, and creations to a good cause, visit the Knit-a-Square website!

I also made a pocket mouse out of felt, minus eyes and a tail. Well, it was supposed to be a pocket mouse, but it kind of looks like a fox...or an ugly mouse. Whatever it looks like, it's ugly. Why was I able to make these things look so adorable when I was like ten years old, but it turned out this ugly now??

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas, because I did! I got to spend a lot of time with the people I love...my family, my boyfriend, and his family. Among the many wonderful gifts that I received from my family and friends this year, there's one in particular that I definitely want to share. My parents gave me a beautiful knitting bag and needle case from Della Q, a company that sells beautiful, colorful, HANDMADE bags and needle cases. Here is the link to the website: Della Q.

So here it is - the Della Q Agnes knitting bag!

This bag costs $112 on the Della Q website. The color that I have is Seafoam, which is a beautiful combination of blues, greens, and purples (which happen to be my favorite colors!). The lighting wasn't great where I took these pictures, so you can't fully see the beauty of the colors in these photos.
The bag has six metal feet on the bottom, and a zipper to close the top. The dimensions of the bag are:
Length - 24 inches
Width - 5.5 inches
Height - 14.5 inches

Here is the inside of the bag. In it I have two one-pound skeins of yarn and the blanket that I'm making with them, one average skein of Lion Brand yarn and the scarf that I'm making with it, a notebook, and Della Q's Lily combo needle case, also in the color Seafoam. As you can see, even with all of the yarn, projects, and accessories, there is still plenty of room in this bag!

Here is a photo of the bag from Della Q's website:

And now for photos of the Lily combo needle case, also in Seafoam!
This case costs $44 on the website. It is made of taffeta silk and poly silk. The case has eighteen pockets for straight and double point needles and nine pockets for circular needles. The dimensions are:
Open - 14.5" w x 15"
Closed - 15.5" x 6"
I couldn't get any good pictures on my camera, so these are the pictures from Della Q's website.

This next picture isn't completely accurate, since the one that I have is in Seafoam, not this reddish color, but this is just to show you what the inside of the case looks like.

I absolutely LOVE this bag and the needle case, and I think they are both well worth the money!

New blog!

I've decided to start a new blog!

I'm a college student with a strong love for indie crafting and indie craft businesses, as well as many others things like cooking, baking, and outdoorsy things. I'm in the process of trying to start my own indie craft business (or at least sell some of the things that I make, since I make so much of it), and I figured it would be fun to blog about that and other hobbies, events, and happenings of my life!
